We have been tracking the strength and direction of Hurricane Jova. We are not prepared for a hurricane. We are not sure of what provisions we need, evacuation procedures, and what we should do to our condo.
Jova, a category 3 hurricane, hits land north of us between Manzanillo and Peurto Vallarta and there is much wind and water damage. We get a lot of rain for a couple of days.

Hurricane Jova creates high water levels in the Pacific and huge waves which pound the beaches. The waves in Zihuatanejo Bay are large but there is little damage. South of us on Playa de Potasi, the mix of high water and large waves destroy some of the beach side restaurants. The waves go over the beach and topple palm trees.

Restaurant patio damage. We actually had a drink and a snack right here on this very patio two days ago. Now there is no patio! |
A day after the storm the waves are still large at Trancones which is about 30 kilometers north of Ixtapa.

Such angry seas! |
 |
Valleys which are normally almost dry have large rivers and everything is so green. |
