Zihuatanejo in October is hot and humid - 32 to35 degrees with 85 to 89% humidity. A power surge has broken both of our air conditioners. Our friends Connie and Hans, the owners of the condo where we are staying, are having discussions with the condo association about who should be responsible for the repairs. It is noisy and dusty because of work being done to the condo above us. The pool, although very warm, is a blessing. Joanne says you feel like a chicken rendering in a pot, the water is so warm!
When we got home from watching a ball game in town at a bar one night, Joanne walked in the front doors of the condo complex, kicked off her sandals and fell into the pool. Now that`s feeling hot! No time for the bathing suit...just jump in clothes and all! Ah-h-h-h-h-h-h!

It is the end of the rainy season and everything is lush and green. About every other day we get an hour or two of very hard rain.

The beaches usually have a bit of a breeze so we have been visiting various beaches.
On our walks to the beach we notice people that are just sitting in the water and digging with their hands. The are digging for mole crabs or cheaky leaky as the locals call them. They are about 2 inches long and are a crustacean and not a crab. Mexicans say that they are good to eat.....taste like shrimp! I have never seen before. They can bury themselves with sand in 1.5 seconds and they actually eat with their antennae.

There is a very large possum, over a foot long without his tail, who comes by our condo almost ever night. He very boldly walks by like he owns the place. The condominiums where we are staying are mostly vacant right now, we have decided not to mention the possum to anyone else. They would probably try to get rid of him before anyone with a dog or a cat arrives. In a fight, I think the possum might win. His destiny may be someone's dinner!
During our six and a half week trip and visits with wonderful friends, we drank and ate far too much! We are now in detox mode. We are watching what we eat, not eating out, and drinking less. The fruits and vegetables at the market are locally grown. Grapefruits, papayas, mangoes, bananas and avocados all burst with taste. The amount of flavour is amazing!
We have been exercising in the pool and going for long walks. Joanne has now gone almost 3weeks without smoking! She is doing really well. I am getting back my boyish figure and good looks. Seriously, we have both lost a few pounds and will continue our efforts to get in shape!
