I think Joanne wants to make Tom Kilburn proud. I curse Tom and his fishing photos as we are up, out and at the dock before 7 am. and this after being at the carnival the night before. Joanne has been talking about doing this for weeks and she is so excited.
We are underway just as the sun is coming up and what a spectacular sunrise we have as we leave Zihuatanejo Bay!
The sunrise, the colour of the ocean and clouds, and view along the coast were totally breathtaking and impossible to describe or capture on film. This made my day and is something that I will always remember..
We manage to catch 2 bait fish, mackerel, as we head for the deep water about 10 miles off shore.
We have picked the right day as there is a light cloud cover and it is not too hot.
On the way to deep water we see jumping fish, a group (I don't know the word) of dolphins and many large sea turtles.
We troll 7 lines and we troll & troll and troll – but not even a strike. We are disappointed.

We arrive back at the dock at 2 pm after a good day on the boat but no fish and not even a strike. Our friend Bob says "that's why they call it fishing and not catching", this does ease Joanne's disappointment.
We get back to the apartment to find an Email from Neil & Halina who would like to get together for dinner. Neil & Halina are a fun couple from Nova Scotia. Halina spent most of her life as a correspondant for the CBC traveling around the world with politicians such as Jean Cretian, Brian Mulrony and Paul Martin. She met Neil on assignment in Iraq, I think she said, while Neil was a correspondant for the BBC. We first met them last Saturday evening at the club where the Canadian singer was performing. We met them again last night at carnival. They are truly a crazy couple and are game for just about anything, so of course we agree that we should get together!
After drinks and snacks at our place, we are off to our favourite, no frills seafood restaurant. If you can't catch them eat them.
