We arrive at the Inn to find that the quaint and inexpensive rooms have gone way up in price and way down in up-keep and the restaurant is closed on Mondays. We leave disappointed and drive back towards Riviere-du-Loup. Our disappointment turns to delight when we find the cutest little cottages on the shore of the St. Lawrence.
The interior of the cabins have not been changed in about 50 years. They have hot water, indoor plumbing and a table with 2 chairs next to a large window that overlooks the St. Lawrence.
Some people would find it old and tired, we think it is shabby chic with it's eclectic, English Country decor and the price of $40 per night is great.
In our cooler we have;
- wine & beer
- rotisserie chicken
- veal creton - a delicious Quebec meat spread
- shrimp mousse
- fresh Quebec cheese - like cheese curds in block form
- a bagette
- and vegetables with dip
A short evening but memorable...we were in bed by 8:30 and asleep shortly thereafter!
After a good nights sleep, we are up early and on the road by 6AM. The sun is shining and the roads have little traffic as we drive through New Brunswick and Nova Scotia towards Halifax.
