Getting out of Mexico City PROBLEMO! We got lost in heavy traffic and spent about 2 hours getting to the right thruway. I was cool and relaxed and hardly yelled or swore at all - just ask Joanne.
Driving from Mexico City to Guanajuato was farther and took longer than we expected but we made it to Guanajuato and through the labyrinth of ancient tunnels that are now roads beneath the city. These tunnels once contain the river and mine shafts. We arrived at our hotel by 8:15 PM, got unpacked and were sitting outside having drinks and dinner by 9:15. The Tortilla and Avocado soup was unbelievable - spicy with cooling avocado and went well with my Negro Modello cerveza.
After this tasty and unbelievably inexpensive meal, we were back to the hotel and in bed by 11.
Guanajuato is as beautiful as I remembered. The streets are alive with people, cafes and restaurants, however, the weather is unseasonably cold. We really have not packed the right clothes.
Tomorrow we meat James, our real estate adviser, and look at some properties! Exciting!
